Boston’s skyline has undergone quite a transformation over the past decade. Just in the last few years, dozens of luxury apartment buildings have been built to accommodate a rapidly growing Metro population, transforming places like Seaport into a luxury building haven. This development boom has added thousands of condos units and Boston luxury apartments, helping to meet the ever-growing demand for housing in Boston.
With so much new construction going on, it’s easy to lose track of all the remarkable new developments being built. New projects are breaking ground every month seemingly, and for many locals it has become business as usual in Beantown. However, there have been some noteworthy new developments in the works that are worth mentioning. Here are some of the best new development projects being built in Boston.
Suffolk Downs
The former Suffolk Downs racetrack is being completely transformed into a beautiful new community spanning 40 acres in East Boston. This massive project will add 10,000 new East Boston apartments and condos with office, hotel, and retail space available. When the project is complete, Suffolk Downs will be a neighborhood in and of itself, one of the largest construction projects ever undertaken in Boston.
The Quinn
The Quinn is a new luxury building being built in the South End, one of Boston’s trendiest neighborhoods. While it’s tough to compare the unique character of the historic brownstone architecture in the South End, this new luxury building aims to match it in both class and style. It will offer 101 new condos and apartments in South End built with a charming mix of both classic and modern finishes.
Back Bay/South End Gateway
This project has been slow to break ground since it was approved in 2019 due to air rights issues, but looking at the plans, it’s hard not to get excited about this new building. This new development bordering Back Bay and South End will offer 4 new sleek buildings and over 1 million square feed of residential and office space.
Raffles Boston
The international luxury hotel company Raffles is planning to open a gorgeous 32 story building in the Back Bay in 2022. This 400 foot beauty will add 147 hotel rooms and 146 luxurious condos and apartments in Back Bay with stunning views of the Charles River and Boston Harbor. Unlike the South End Gateway, this project seems to be moving full steam ahead as they have already begun pre-sales.
